  • Comments Thread For: Atlas Applauds WBC/WBA For Rejection of Garcia-Salka

Teddy Atlas, expert analyst for ESPN's Friday Night Fights, applauds the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association for refusing to sanction Danny Garcia's upcoming fight against Rod Salka on August 9th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Salka (19-3, 3KOs), a lightweight contender who wasn't even rated at 135-pounds by either sanctioning body, was universally labeled by the media, and fans, as being undeserving of a world title shot.

Still can't believe Garcia chose to fight Salka. He should be fighting Peterson or Matthysse. Seems this might be Garcia's last fight at 140 though, than will move up to 147. I'm guessing Matthysse & Peterson will move up to 147 as well within the next year or so.

I love Atlas. He tells it like it is and doesn't give a ish, can't say the same for cats like Lampley, Dan, Max Kellerman, and half of Showtime.

When I first heard that it was gonna be a non title fight I thought it was because dsg was choosing not to put his titles on the line. I hope it Really puts things for danny and Haymon. No more of these bull**** fights
