mayweather won his first title at super feather and stands at 5'8''.
Naz won his first world title at featherweight and stands at 5'4''.
It would have been a huge size difference in the ring on fight night but ultimately, this is a fight where, for once Floyd didn't duck someone, actually wanted the fight but you have to ask, why did he chase the fight?
The answer is simple, by the time Floyd had mediocre name recognition in the sport and may have been able to claw at a Naz fight in financial terms (in 1999-2000 Naz had more financial earnings than the undisputed heavyweight champion), Naz was all but done as a fighters, as his lackluster final performances showed, especially the Barrera bout. His hands were gone, he couldn't hit as hard cos he kept breaking them and ultimately his desire for the game was no longer there.
There was no reason and no appetite for this fight from anyone other than Mayweather and HBO who thought they could put on one more major Naz event.
You're aware the Naz nor anyone in his camp wanted this fight? Floyd asked for the fight but Naz avoided him. Even Steward said he was steered clear of the fight plus he would have had to go up but I believe Floyd was willing to do a CW at the time. You saw what Barrera did to him but you feel he beats Floyd?
Prime Naz would have put Mayweather on on his backside, he hit like a damn mini truck for his size.
I think Naz gets very little credit for his reign as champion.
He gets credit but that's a terrible style matchup for him. He avoided that fight or any thoughts of moving up. Even Larry Merchant acknowledged as much that Naz didn't want to fight Floyd and he's not the greatest Floyd supporter. lol

He wasn't the greatest Hamed supporter. Naz had no obligation to move up in weight. Mayweather was desperate for the fight against a smaller man who was making the big money. No surprise there. Hopkins probably would've wanted a piece of Naz at that time.
