Cotto fought Pacquiao's fight and never adjusted after the first KD. And because Cotto usually slows down in the later rounds it was only a matter of time before he was going to be stopped. I agree. He was an absolute force. That's the fight that really ruined any chance of Floyd fighting him.

Ever since he started becoming a more technical fighter, Pacquiao doesn't show all his cards in the beginning of the fight. He uses the early rounds to gauge you, set you up, and give you a false sense of his weaponry.

He doesn't turn it up until around the 4th round and catches you with his real power when you're not expecting it, and when you think you can handle his shots.

He had the 'eye of the tiger' back then and that bounce to his step. He was hungry. He doesn't have that same hunger anymore. Not saying all is lost as he'd still beat mostly everyone from 140-147.

But I think its partly natural due to aging, already reaching the top, already making the $$$, father life, ...becoming too busy/unfocused with politics, TV shows, religion.

He fought 3/4 of every round back then. Marquez or Nacho said Pacquiao was very difficult when younger, cause you didn't know what the $%$ he was gonna do (unpredictable). Now PAC slowed down just enough to be timed.

Indeed, great performance by Pacquiao, you just can't overlook the fact that "Sugar" Shane Mosley was a far better opponent for Manny at the time. Shane Mosley was coming off an impressive TKO win over Antonio "El Tornado" Margarito. Manny & his team avoided Shane and instead went for the safe money in Miguel Cotto, a fighter who was clearly not the same after Tony stopped him. Not only that, the fight was made at a ridiculous 145 catchweight...

2 fights after Pacquiao whopped Cotto, Pacquiao whopped Shane. B*tch and complain about the timing all day but the difference that timing would have made was Pacquiao whooping a 38 year old Mosley vs. a 39 year old Mosley. Some difference eh.
