It wasn't his finest work but cut him some slack! Abner is a human who just lost a lot of prestige and earning capacity. The fight before Gonzalez he stopped Ponce De Leon. Not to mention his performances against Vic, King Kong, Perez, etc.

I think he just needed to reassure himself of himself and shake off the ring rust. I don't think Abner Mares has went anywhere.

Man here we go with the bull****!! I kno Mares has a rematch cluase that he hasn't exercised yet but I think he's messing the WBC featherweight top ranked contenders2 thru 5 for there title shot with all this ****.Plus I also think johnny Gonzales wants to fight these washed up Mexican fighters Arce, Mijares, Juarez....to prolong his reighn as champ and make more money which I kno that boxing is a business..But **** that, I think he needs to give the shot to a young upcoming fighter that deserves a chance..And I think it should be Jayson Velez who to me is Miguel Cotto Promotions best fighter at this moment in that with a chance to win a title....which would be a first for his stable..
