Ask him the question in his native question he wouldn't of said that.
His English is still improving that much is obvious.
You have to remember the way Russian/Polish these Slavic languages are far different to us they're more simplistic they're shortened when they say words...
We go to the effort of having a single word for every part of our sentence but something all they'd need to say for example is...
Nie wiem = I do not know
Which to us If we phrased it that way it would mean "not know"
