During the first stop of their five city press tour, in New York City, WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. dared Marcos Maidana to "bet his purse" on the outcome of their rematch, scheduled to take place on September 13th at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Mayweather, who won their May meeting with a twelve round majority decision, feels very confident about his chances to win in the second meeting.
Maidana's trainer, Robert Garcia, upped the stakes by challenging Mayweather to a "winner takes all" side bet. Garcia says Mayweather rejected the bet by refusing to "shake on it" during their press conference in Chicago.
