When Cotto was 23 he had only 18 pro fights while at 23 Canelo has had more then 40.. Of course Cotto wouldn't be much at age 23 with that experience. Lets see Canelo fight those guys with only 18 fights under his belt and see how he does. You are welcome.....

you forgot to mention that cotto had a amateur record while canelo didnt. canelo started at age 15 with zero experience. Canelo had to learn and yes even at 18 canelo would of done better than cotto. so like you posted up some names i will too canelo fought cintron, baldomir, ndou, mosley, lopez, trout. what up then? you welcome AGAIN......

If you want to compare accuracy, take a look at Cotto's stats versus similar opposition. Canelo landed at a better percentage against Mayweather and Trout than Cotto did. People are too focused on size. The thing that changed Canelo's accuracy was the movement, skill and style of the fighters he faced. Angulo was the largest fighter he has ever faced and he was completely destroyed.

There's nothing to be ashamed of in having close fights with Trout and Lara.
You don't need punch stats to see who did better against Mayweather. Landing slightly more on Trout isn't really a big deal, it was a bad night for Cotto. The problem is Canelo has had 3 of his last 4 fights be "bad nights" but for some reason it's okay for him to struggle but if anyone else does they are no good, shot or a bum.

Canelo brings youth, grit, power and a good chin. I think it may be a competitive fight the first five or so rounds but after that the youth in Canelo will take over and break down Cotto.

Good chin not so much when he got level and tagged by Jose Cotto.

It's not looking bad when you have a tough, close fight with a good fighter. Mayweather made Canelo look bad. The other guys had tough fights with Canelo. Anytime you fight the type of fighters Canelo has faced, you'll have tough moments. It definitely won't be easy. Cotto is a perfect example of this. He fought Trout and Mayweather back to back just like Canelo did and we all saw the result. Even at his best, Cotto had tough fights with Clottey and Mosley. That didn't make him a bum or hype job. People have to understand you're not going to blow out all your opposition when you step up in class.

It's like me saying Cotto fought Mosley, Gomez, Margarito, Jennings, Clottey and Pacquiao. He had tough fights with 4 of 6. He's a bum/hypejob. Doesn't that sound ridiculous.

Has a lot to do with the fact that most picked Trout to beat Canelo, many picked Lara to not only win but do it impressively, some even by schooling. So the only thing one is forced to do is commend Canelo in coming out victorious. That's the only logical thing to do but many would rather not go that route.
