I dont see what Canelo brings that can beat Miguel Cotto

people hate on canelo because hes a young, attractive, rich, famous. let me ask you this when cotto was 23 how would he do if he was put in the ring with floyd/lara/trout/angulo? i bet he would of lost his *****. you guys seam to forget that cottos has been stopped and has taking career ending beatings. He actually poses a significant threat. Canelo has the clear size advantage (and reach) and he's currently in his prime. He's a good body puncher and combination puncher. His stamina looks improved as well.

The "new and improved" Cotto looked exceptional in his last two fights but Canelo has a totally different style than Rodriguez and Martinez. Cotto's aggressive style could get him beat up. I believe Cotto's jab will be his key weapon against Alvarez. But when things start to heat up will Cotto be durable enough to win.

Canelo started his pro career at age 15 while Cotto started his at 21. Canelo's first real test came 8 years from his pro debut with Trout. In 8 years from the start of Cotto's career he had fought undefeated's Torres, Malinaggi, and Quintana. He beat Judah and Shane while also winning tittles in multiple divisions. When Cotto was 23 he had only 18 pro fights while at 23 Canelo has had more then 40.. Of course Cotto wouldn't be much at age 23 with that experience. Lets see Canelo fight those guys with only 18 fights under his belt and see how he does. You are welcome.....

I think your forgetting Alvarez had practically no Amateur career(15 fights) while Cotto was a standout amateur. Hell Alvarez started boxing at 13 and turned pro 2 years later FFS. He probably had no pubic hair while he 20 belts under his belt.

Agreed. Cotto under Pedro Diaz would have a much better chance against Canelo.
