Comments Thread For: Ring Officials Named For Rigondeaux-Koietgym Title Fight

Lineal 122 lb. king Guillermo Rigondeaux and Sod Kokietgym (nee Looknongyangtoy) are fighting way off the U.S. radar this weekend in Macao, China, but their bout still carries an American feel to it.

All four officials for this weekend’s 122 lb. championship bout are being flown in from the United States. The referee will be Mark Nelson, from Minnesota. Scoring the bout from ringside will be Dennis Nelson, also from Minnesota; John Poturaj, from New Jersey; and Glenn Feldman, from Connecticut.

Of the four, only Feldman has previously worked a bout involving either fighter. The veteran judge was ringside for Rigondeaux’ 12-round points win over Robert Marroquin in a Sept. ’12 fight that was fairly simple to score. [Click Here To Read More]

I know nothing of Koietgym aside from what I just read, but something tells me he's about to lose. lol

Thanks, Jake, for describing the situation with the Rigo-Agbeko fight fairly.

Oh but of course. Speculation and opinion are job requirements for ESPN Senior Boxing Writers, not here.

Disrespectful . Shame . How come hbo2 is passing on rigo ?
We'll , I'm sure after this fight , which is his last under top rank , we will be watching this "boxing master " on show time and thanking al Haymon .

When if rigo moves to showtime , he will have big times fight there : santacruz , mares , at122, maybe Haymon can pay for Kiko Martinez , frampton or quigg .

The problem with rigo is : he is the best counter defensive out there , and hits pretty hard , pretty hard . And as soon as he counters , their opponents don't want to throw anymore . Why ? Cause you won't hit him anyways and will get punished in return very badly .

Asks ducknaire , Kennedy , agbeko , why they stop trying after rigo counters ...

Hope I can see rigo santacruz , since this guy throws like 100 punches a round , or Kiko Martinez , to see what they are going to do against him .

Whoever knows boxing know this guy is the definition of boxing : hit and not get hit at his best .

Haymon : make rigondeaux - santacruz happen .

Thanks al Haymon , in advance ....

Where is Levi Martinez ? The referee ?
Rigo , go for tko , cause I believe bob arum will do his " best " for you to lose if there is a unanimous decision to rob your ring magazine , wbo , and WBA titles .

Remember : you exposed ducknaire , and he kows you might join Lara , forestal and Bartelemi with Haymon , and fight on showtime , which is hbo rival
            .
Go for ko , rigo , don't let bob rob you ...

Thanks al Haymon , showtime . Ha ha .

              Gee, whomever could you mean?

I understand he had it 116-112 Alvarez. My guess is he didn't bat an eye at 117-111.

Why does HBO2 insist on showing Zou Shiming? Does he score big ratings for them or something?

As a subscriber and boxing fan I couldn't care less about him. Would much rather have seen Rigondeaux get that air time instead.

They should name the ringside paramedics. Cause the officials will not matter after Rigo knocks this dude's head off or crushes his liver or solar plexus.
