From the very beginning, I didn't see what was so special about Lara. Sure, he was good, but was he really that good? Of the three best Cuban fighters that have defected in recent years, Landy ranks at number three, behind Rigo and Gamboa. Lara is also the least entertaining to watch. Some people call Rigo boring, but he's a master boxer with sublime skills. Yuri, while flawed, at his best, is electrifying. Even while being KOed against a much larger man, Gamboa delivered on the thrills. Lara is like watching "Groundhog Day," the same thing over and over. That in itself might not be so bad, but Landy is just way too inactive. So it's like the old ***ish joke about the bad restaurant, "The food here is terrible...and such small portions, too."
