So what does that mean exactly?

It's possible. I just don't see Maidana and his team just submitting like that, when it was a great opportunity to get something out of it. Surely, Chino has somebody watching his back.

"So, you don't want me to use the gloves that the commission just approved? Okay, well, what will you give me to switch?" It could (should) have gone something like that.

If I was on Chino's team, that's what I would have done. And I don't know crap. I'm just a 2L. Imagine what his real deal lawyer would have done.
I think its fair to assume Maidana definitely got paid for th glove switch. If it happened my guess is his team and ellerbee made a deal so he could have plausible deniability. What team wouldn't take $1.5 mil to wear gloves.

But maybe we should take him at his word.

I never said that. I'm not sure what you mean.

You're absolutely right on your points and there isn't a team on this planet that would NOT take that deal. It's a deal of a lifetime. What a great position to find yourself in right before your biggest payday already.

"Oh you want to pay me more?"-type of thing. Very good for Chino. And Money May is awesome too. May didn't want to get hit by those gloves so he (presumably) paid him handsomely to fight in the foam gloves. That's good business right there. Everybody's happy.

However, I will take his word. It's really as far as we can go with the "conspiracy theories". Chino may very well have asked for something else.

If they want to make a private deal on the gloves then fine. Just say that both camps came to an agreement without disclosing the exact details of the deal. That's all. Just dont say that you didnt accept any money to change gloves that the commission gave you the OK to fight in. That makes you look either very ****** or a liar!

I think it should be completely up to the parties making the deal.

If they want to keep it under wraps, then they should be entitled to that. I'm not exactly sure how that works , as far as legally, but I imagine I'll run into that sooner or later.

I know you didn't ask me directly and I hope you don't mind me chiming in. I just thought it was a really good question. :-)

i believe they did get pay for the gloves switch. but i also dont think team maidana wants to come out and say it. like u said they could have just said we got paid for it end of discussion. but that will leave the complaining out from them and they dont want to do that. team maidana still wants to use a reason as to why maidana lost the fight and thats because of the gloves change even though they got paid for it their not gonna admit to it.
