Who exactly has talked trash about Ali compared to, let's say Vlad and Vitali?
If we're going to say people shouldn't be disrespectful either they should heed their own advice or perhaps just decide not to read messages from users they don't agree with.
I couldn't care less we're all allowed to have our own differences but I find it comical that Wladimir gets alot of stick when he isn't anywhere near as bad as someone like Ali, Froch, Groves, M.Tyson and so on.

He was a douche but sadly that is overlooked because of his brilliance as a fighter and as an entertainer. I'm not saying you have to be perfect, but Ali went pretty low on constant basis.
I don't know if he changed as a person and I respect his choice of opposing Vietnam's war, but I just can't look up to a man who acted like he acted.
They punch people in the face for money. They try to destroy another human for entertainment, to get paid.
The majority of boxers come from terrible backgrounds, poverty stricken, grow up in a life that very few here know and understand. They grow up to fight, then when they achieve fame, money, adoration, that fighter doesn't suddenly leave. In fact, that can make things worse because they see it all as a ridiculous fake world they live in.
They get treated like **** by the boxing world, everyone loves them when they're on top, then are promptly swept under the rug when they're down.
You'd be surprised how many boxers are serious ****ups as humans. It's a harsh life, and they often come from even harsher backgrounds.
What do you except. It's great when some of them are sensible, well adjusted people, but they are also often the ones that didn't come from the bad backgrounds.
We watch them, and thus give them fame and fortune, for their ability to **** someone else up, not their manners.

Many boxers do come from poverty stricken backgrounds (Liston, Foreman, etc) but that is not a valid excuse for Ali.

He also did a lot of great things that haters like to ignore. Donated to tons of charities and programs.

Most superior athletes are like that. Especially in the sport of boxing. It's hard to be humble when you're the absolute best in the world at something.
From what I've read, he always had time for his fans, signed autographs for free, always did charitable works, stood up for the African=American community, refused to travel 3000 miles to kill innocent poor brown people. which part of that do you hate?
Originally posted by One more round View PostAli was an individual, his personality and fighting style had never been seen before. Sure, the way he treated Frazier was un gentlemanly but that's what made their rivalry what it was, a real rivalry not a manufactured one like today. They hated each other.
What fights were these?
A country that wouldn't let him eat At the same table As a white man. A country who had oppressed and marginalized his people for hundreds of years. Ali stood up for what he believed in a sacrificed his prime in the sport to do so. Courage isn't always about fighting, sometimes courage is about being an individual and doing something that you know will alienate you and make you enemies. Why should Ali have supported a pointless war fought by a country who oppressed his race? He showed he was a real man by doing what he did.
Let's look at the real reason you hate Ali, Tunney. It's because he was a hw champ who set the world on fire with his style and charisma, while your hero wlad, while an admirable man and good fighter, has none of these things compared to Ali and it shows in how popular hw boxing is today.
