Good fight. Inactivity, slow start and no defence is what Kirkland has going against him. If Canelo can touch Kirkland early and work on his body than I can see James breaking down. The toughest part about this fight is the fact that James gains momentum and hits hard enough to stop a bull(exaggerated) so it's a dangerous fight. We have yet to see Canelo face adversity of this magnitude. Sure he can take Angulo's punches but Kirkland is a different monster. We will see Canelo's chin get checked for sure but I don't see a war exploding in the likes of Angulo vs Kirkland due to the fact that Canelo is leaps and bounds a better boxer than Angulo, and on top of that he will be aware that a slugfest isn't the best game plan against a locomotive power punching machine. Canelo should work the body early and counter Kirkland with combinations in the later rounds. I got Canelo winning this by stoppage by or under round 11.

I'd rather them just go straight to Cotto-Canelo. This isn't a bad fight at all but putting a fight off for a while is always a risky strategy.

me too. talk about a fun fight.

kirkland's shaky chin, power, and handspeed will make this a hellish fight.

expect kirkland to get stopped in the middle of the fight.

Canelo just faced a pure boxer who stunk the joint out and got on his bike for 12 rounds. Canelo/Kirkland will be fireworks for as long as it lasts. Lara had his time to shine and he blew it.

When was the last time Kirkland even fought? Smart to get him coming from this long layoff

Last December he had that war with Tapia. It'd be an almost year layoff. Would of been better if Kirkland fought this summer but last I heard Kirkland had some more beef with his own people again. Sometimes he's his worse enemy or just hangs around with complete ******s when he's not training with Wolfe.

Hope Kirkland can get a quick fight in early September to set this up!

Then again, Layoffs don't seem to effect him as long as Wolfe gets him in shape. Those sparring sessions are no joke!
