Some people are just never satisfied. Maybe canelo should just fight lesser opponents a la the Haymon way, then maybe more people would give him respect. He brought the fight last night against a fighter who didn't want to engage.

He gets respect/credit for fighting the top guys in his division. It shouldn't even have to be mentioned because that's the way it should be anyway.


He's looked very underwhelming in those fights. Angulo was his only clear win in the last 4

Yeah, but even if you didn't think he won, even to have razor close fights against these guys indicates you're legit.

All 3 are good fighters and he beat all 3.

He's clearly not a hype job. Hype jobs don't beat these kind of fighters, atleast not consistently.

I think he's fortunate to be in a weak division.

Those weren't gifts, gifts are for when everyone thinks you lost. Most people had Canelo winning both those fights.

at 24? I don't think he's reached his peak because he showed me something new last night, he showed he can pressure to some degree.

Fights undefeated trout, undefeated Floyd, rugged angulo, and dangerous Lara in consecutive fights and only lost to Floyd..

This isn't 2011 anymore, canelo is a proven world class fighter, he isn't fighting the Ryan Rhodes, Mathew hatton level fighters anymore

Eeked out a decision against Trout (a lot of people like to forget the controversy surrounding that one), gets a Certificate of Attendance and a fatass payday to get schooled by Floyd, destroys Angulo I'll give you that one, and eeks out a decision against Lara...

I think Canelo is a good fighter but beyond all the controversy last night revealed how limited both guys are in their inability to adapt and really take control of a fight like a great fighter would. Why would Canelo think that Lara would do anything besides "run" like he always does? Why would Lara think that potshotting the pride of Golden Boy and Mexico would get him the win?
