Comments Thread For: Bellew/Cleverly Double Early Results From Liverpool

2012 London Olympian (for the UK) Anthony Ogogo improved to 7-0, with 4 KOs, after the fifth-round stoppage over Prizefighter alumni Wayne Reed (10-9, 5 KOs) in a middleweight contest, scheduled for six.

Ogogo dropped Reed with the left hook almost immediately, also provoking a solid cut on the head of Reed. The Olympian continued to wing freely in the second, rocking Reed several times at the end of the round. Ogogo went on with his domination in the third stanza, then both boxers started to rumble in the fourth. The favorite was much faster, landing his punches at will, while Reed hit mostly the air around Ogogo. Early in the fifth, Ogogo landed a major right hand, pinning Reed to the corner, then connected with several combos, the last consisting of four unanswered punches, prompting referee Steve Gray to intervene at 1:06 of the stanza.

If your referring to Callum Smith, I think you might want to rethink that, the guy has punching power and good speed and nice reflexes too.

Anthony Joshua should be matched for the BBBofC English championship in his next contest as should Anthony Ogogo!

Anthony Joshua should be jailed for elder abuse. I understand they dont want to rush him, but this is ******ed. He doesnt get any credit for beating a 47 year old never was.

I disagree, Skelton isn't completely shot, it was only 2 years ago he upset Tom Dallas who was a prospect at the time. Last 2 fights were decent domestic level opponents too. He's the kind of opponent all prospects need to show him some of the veteran moves and rough house tactics which Skelton did with holding and use of his head. To give it some perspective Deontay was in with a 3-4 opponent in his 7th fight.

Yaroslav Zavorotnyi is apparently next and he's been in with a few decent names and if he took Price 10 rounds should give Joshua a few. John McDermott for the English title after that would make sense to me.

skelton is 47 & isn't the same fighter he was even 5 years ago. this may be the first name on his resume but let's be real about this. let's see him fight john McDermott next. sexton & lewison are not available so big john would be a nice opponent at this point.
