Comments Thread For: Andre Berto is Hungry, Eager To Get Back in The Mix

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Former welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-3, 22KOs), 30-years-old, is ready to get back in the mix.

Berto has been inactive since last July's TKO loss to Jesus Soto Karass. During the fight, Berto severely injured his right shoulder. He hung in there, coming back with a late rally to drop Soto Karass in the eleventh but then he was stopped in the twelfth.

Following the fight, he underwent shoulder surgery. Recently Berto was given the green light to return, and currently he is training in the gym with new coach Virgil Hunter. [Click Here To Read More]

Berto may only be 30 but he looked like a shot fighter in his last fight. It was as if his body was already breaking down on him. He looked closer to 40 than he did to 30. This dude is done as a top fighter.

Well he is only 30yo and I gotta be honest I love watching his fights!
Maybe a fight with Angulo could be something to look forward to down the line If he can get a successful comeback.

Andre just never got better. Whoever said his body has broken down is 100% right unfortunatly. I'm not sure Virgil Hunter is the answer for Andre either. My biggest question is, why hasn't he fought in a year? It's quite ridiculous really. He's only going to get better by fighting and he's pulling this time off BS.

He still has a good chin, I think a good break can be the right thing to do after punishing fights.
Your body needs the time to recover and surely he would need the time aswell.

I'll put it on that If he gets a couple of fights that are good for him to get back into the mix of thing he will be able to pose a threat for some of those guys at 154lbs.

Berto has not been the same fighter since Ortiz took him down. He may never be more than a gatekeeper now.

Honestly I appreciate all the great fights berto has given us. But IMO it's time for him to hang them up, he's taking some big punishment in a couple wars throughout his career. I fear for his health as a fan.
