all jobs are not equal, a doctor is not the same as a road sweeper, if a doctor messes up someone can die, his name can be stricken off the register and he may never work again.
boxers are sportsmen, the job of a sportsman is to entertain, if he is not doing that to his best ability, he should be docked pay.
i like the idea of KO bonuses like those in prizefighterComment

Ok if you want a better job study harder in school or train hard in a gym...dont blame others for your laziness, hell i come on here everyday and see people b1tching about how much a boxer makes..well they trained for years to get there and it took blood sweat and tears...then people sitting at home think they have the right to judge??? b1tch please..i been in the ring, ive seen my own blood..i know what they go through to get where they are...THEY EARNED ITall jobs are not equal, a doctor is not the same as a road sweeper, if a doctor messes up someone can die, his name can be stricken off the register and he may never work again.

In a way Larry has a point, boxers who earn more money for the networks/promoters deserve the bigger checks. If they fight b1tch-made then shame on us for tuning in and going to the fight(s)
You have a choice, the people chose to continue to support fights and fighters that don't fight the way that we want them.
If you don't like it, don't tune in and purchase and take a real stance. Don't go buy a Mayweather (just an example) fight and come on ere and b1tch about how much he should be paid because he didn't perform to your liking (which is subjective anyway.)Comment

I used to be an amateur boxer
I'm currently studying medicine and already have a degree under my belt, so unless something terrible happens, I'll be earning some good money and that's probably why I used the medical field as an example. Our jobs hang by a thread and doctors are true life savers, it's people like that, along with teachers, nurses, social workers and so on that should be making the BIG BUCKS, not athletes, boxers, footballers what ever.
But in all honesty, I could care less how much money a fighter makes, I'm really not that materialistic, I'd be more than happy with £50-100k, which is what I'll most likely earn in a few years.
what I agreed with in regards to the TS is the fact that fighters who perform well, possibly get the KO or look dominant, should be getting some sort of bonus and if a fighter has performed badly, stunk out the place, made booes ring down, looked lackluster etc then he should be docked some pay.
That happens in almost all professional scenarios, why not for sportsmen and women who earn more money than people whos jobs actually make the world a better place.
Now Larry, if you care so much about how much these fighters earn, out of which you make ZERO and you want to protect their earnings...then I dunno what to say. You're a pretty weird guy, you care more about certain fighters than you do about the health of out entire sport, a sport for which you apparently bled. I'll never understand simple minded people like you, but that's ok.Comment

Ever heard of a performance bonus? Think of it like that rather than a cut. Let's say both guys have a base of 500k and there's another 500k to the winner. 700k for a KO. I like this idea.Comment

there can only be one winner. why should a fighter get docked for losing a fight or having a lackluster performance? we all know styles make fights.
what about bad judging? should pacquiao have been docked for losing the first bradley fight? or should bradley have been docked for stinking out the joint, but coming away with a victory?
no fighter should have 3 judges decide whether he gets his full purse or not.
performance bonuses are a good idea, but docking your pay for losing is bull****Last edited by bluebeam; 07-11-2014, 07:37 PM.Comment
