Sergio was already the established Lineal Champ, anyone that beats him ranked or not will be the new Lineal champ. Rankings only works when there isn't a Lineal champ in the division. For Example 154 had no Lineal Champ so the #1 and #2 fighters had to fight each other to form a new Lineage, which was Floyd vs Canelo.
