  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on Moving Forward With Floyd Mayweather

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Last month, the working relationship between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Golden Boy Promotions appeared to be in jeopardy. When Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer left the company, Mayweather appeared to cut his business ties, by way of a statement from Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, with Golden Boy - who co-promoted Mayweather's fights since 2007.

During a media interview in May, Floyd stated that Schaefer's potential departure would signal the end of his working relationship with Golden Boy. The two were close friends and it was hard for him to imagine working with the company without Schaefer being involved.

      Oscar's a sucker.

I hope at least he asked for more than the relatively small fee he's been getting for Floyd fights since 2007 this time.

I would say Oscar is dumb for falling for this BS working relationship with Team Floyd but Oscar doesn't really have a choice right now! Richard Schaefer left the company in a bad situation as far as having fighters under contract! Oscar did the right thing in getting rid of Schaefer! Schaefer sold his soul to Floyd & Haymon and put the company interest on the back burner! Listen to all the fighters who have came out since Schaefer's departure who say there not under contract with Gold Boy!

Notice. Oscar is doing nothing differently than what Schaefer has done. He has no choice, as well as the fact that Bob Arum have no desire to even involve himself with the loon.

lol no guys Oscar was dumb for siding with Arum and thinking that old bastard was really gonna do business with him. Now Oscar is in survival/stay relevant mode and if he gotta do business with floyd ass to do so then so be it.

We all still waiting on this "cold war" to end. For a TR/GBP fight to be made... still waiting.. keep waiting cause the **** won't happen. Don't blame Al Haymon, Schaefer, Floyd, Oscar, Pac, or Todd Debeouf. Blame that old bastard Arum cause he is the only one calling shots for TR. And just like any big businesses once he got used to making a lot of money alone on all in house fights, why go back to making less than all that money with other promoters involved.

Some of you are just dumb that it is beyond belief the sort of ****** comments I read on here. Oscar and Arum only discussed the possibilities of working together only a couple of months ago. Plans hasn't been put in motion yet as to how the two companies are going to collaborate efforts. These sort of things take time. It's not as simple as just throwing fighters in the ring. Oscar getting his company back is one step, understanding the operational sides of things is another and actually going outside the company to co-promote is another step. And for those shaking their head that Oscar's gotta be dumb for working with Floyd, NO, u need to shake your damn head the other way around. Floyd is the one that needs the pity. Highest paid fighter, popularity and all who can't even promote his own fight at this stage. Where else is Floyd going to go when he has no promoter's license and despite his bluff about not working with Oscar, he realizes he has no where else to go but to crawl back to Golden boy to help put a credible promotion together. As far as am concerned, Oscar is the winner here. He's getting a sizable fee off Floyd's fight, he 'll still talk shi.t about him and he still gets to work with Arum whenever he gets ready to.

I'm gonna side with ODLH on this one .....

Forum ******s want to condemn and criticize, when in their tiny world that little 30-40K before taxes is all they're familiar with ODLH\Floyd are talking tens of millions of dollars and in their business, that dollar rules the negotiation and take precedence over petty squabbles.
