Probably be cuz true fans of the sport hate seeing great fighters taken advantage of and not have a pot to piss in at the end of the day? How many world champions are flat broke and/or punch drunk?
Some of us do actually care about the fighters themselves. not just some rock em sock em robot that we toss away as soon as they are no longer of any use for our entertainment pleasure.
So knowing that these fighters are making this type of money is a good thing for the sport. It's also how you increase the talent pool. By making the sport more attractive to the physically gifted athletes. That means better fights for the future as well.

I don't see what the big deal is, this seems to be the running guarantee for all B-sides. Maidana got 1.5 million guaranteed for facing Floyd, same with Martinez facing Cotto and now Lara is getting 1 million to fight Canelo and people on here saying it's all Haymon, please. I could look at what other people make and say I deserve this much most of this is public record as you've just seen.Comment

So after haymon gets his 15%, Lara still has to pay GBP a fee and since hes been running off at the mouth against Oscar, i wouldn't d be surprised if it was more than 500kComment

I'll tell ya'll why Lara got a million. It is because there is a provision in Haymon's contract that stipulates that once he gets you a million dollar+ purse, he gets an automatic 2-3 year extension on his contract.Comment

All great points. Tbh I don't see why some people say "why do we care how much they make" it's part of the sportProbably be cuz true fans of the sport hate seeing great fighters taken advantage of and not have a pot to piss in at the end of the day?
