Has Maidana got any chance in beating Floyd on Sept 13?

Issues about gloves aside, when the bell rings, has Maidana got any chance?

    What would he do differently?

Im not sure I buy Floyd's reasoning that he wanted to give the fans entertainment and thats why he Maidana got some success early on. So saying that, Maidana needs to work on his stamina and hope he doesnt gas out after 6/7 rounds this time. He needs to conserve energy for the latter part of the fight.

I don't buy it either. If Maidana gets his gloves this could be an even closer fight. People keep using the excuse like against Cotto and Maidana that he "chose to ****". B.S. Floyds legs aren't what they use to be. He relies on pure defense, timing and counter punching.

The only reason he out boxed Guerrero and Canelo so easily is because of this.

    1. He out boxed Guerrero because Guerrero isn't much of an inside fighter to begin. He throws from the outside to wear you down and then gets inside. He couldn't hit Floyd from the outside and ate right hands anytime he took a step close which gave Floyd time to side step out of the way.

    2. Canelo refused to throw combinations, refused to be aggressive, tried to outbox Floyd which made it that much easier for Floyd to pick him apart.

Maidana is an inside fighter from birth and will get inside and be aggressive not matter what it takes. I think it will be another close war because Floyd can't run, he'll have to out point him again. Maidana ' s just a tough fight for Floyd at this point in his career.

He says the same thing everytime he's in a close fight, "i did it for the fans". Dont buy that bull that floyd is selling you - he is the last guy in the world who is going to sacrifice getting hit in the face for the sake of the fans.

Maidana can win, he just needs to give up on the power element (even more so because he wont get his puncher's gloves) and focus on speed and stamina and manoeuvring floyd to the ropes. floyd will again be just covering up when he's on the ropes and he wont risk getting hit while maidana is hitting. Their team has acknowledged they need more speed and stamina (and less weight), so it looks good. Maidana's biggest problem will be beating the judges however, so for that reason this is like a 70/30 fight for floyd.

Yep agree. I think the referee will be hard for Maidana to be as well.

But if Maidana is giving up power for speed, can he hurt Floyd at all then.

I think Floyd might just box him and run away from Maidana for 12 rounds.

Maidana did as good as he ever was going to the first time around. I don't think he's good enough to bring something new to the table to trouble Floyd. He'll have success the first four rounds and then fizzle out.

he will do a lot better if he settle down more and not be so tense throwing wild shots and missing. if he calms down more and sit down on his shots he will do a lot better than the first fight.

Maidana easily could have been penalized for all the behind the head punches and the other things. I think it really depends on who is reffing that night.

                of course.

he almost beat him last time, and floyd isn't getting younger.

body work kills a 37 year old.

He has a chance but I expect Floyd to make some serious adjustments the second time around. Maidana will have the same fight plan.

There isn't anything different he can do, its just a matter of how much age has affected Floyd. I don't like making excuses but Floyd might have shown some signs of slowing down the first time around.
