but the truth is we are talking about proboxing and you guys keep bringing amateurs, cubas government invest money in amateurs and they are really good in many sports at that stage, in mexico boxers start really young as pro to bring money to their homes...they have no choice, they have to learn the hard way, that is the mexican university of boxing... to compare pro vs amateurs is like apples and oranges...Comment

MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV - Erislandy Lara drew the ire of Canelo Alvarez when he recently said that he would take the Mexican superstar to the Cuban School of Boxing and claimed that the Cuban style of boxing is superior to Mexico's style.
Alvarez, who hails from Jalisco, Mexico, was asked about Lara's comments today when he met with a group of reporters shortly after making his arrival at the MGM to kick off fight week.

Funny how now Mexican boxing is trash...lol
Man I wonder how come there are so many great Mexican boxers in history? Oh wait, it's only because of their chin, that's it nothing more.
In Mexico when you walk into a gym, they just tell you to keep your hands down and take punches to the face and wear the opponent down, then you will win.
Yup sounds about right in the history of the game. The internet is a cool place because ****** kids can act like, well......
****** kids.Comment

You are another ignorant, so let me get this; Cubans take their boxer to a place where they fight for a lot of years and then when they are 30 years old the government unleashing them to the poor little kids of the world, right? Again check their age when winning their first medal and do your homework and learn...Comment

Remember that some kids are just fanatics, they don't the history of boxing you may ask one of them here who raton macias was and they have to google him, olivares, canto, kid azteca, mando ruiz, palomino, cuevas, yaqui, coloradito lopez, chiquita, and others that escape my mind now...
olivares was probably even more popular than chavez sr...Comment

Some times i think there are too many kids allowed to post here, you present them with proof and they ignore those proof, you try to teach the history of boxing and they don't want t learn, they talk about Cuba without any knowledge whatsoever, there a few that you can have a conversation even an argument without getting personal, but man is getting old...Last edited by garfios; 07-09-2014, 03:41 PM.Comment

I thought you knew better, the Kid Chocolate name rings a bell? Because he was the second World Champion from Latin America after al brown, and he was well known in the whole World, he was the original party animal (if my memory serve me well, he was the first Hispanic to win Belts in to different weight division, 130 first and 126 later, back when their were only 8 divisions) after him others like Black Bill, Kid GAvilan, Luis M. Rodriguez (ali learned a lot from this kid), Paret, Fernandez, Tunero, Ultiminio Ramos, Jose Legra, Mantequilla and a few others, then everything stopped in 1959, 50+ years later we here again and some generations don't know $h1t about Cubans athletes or Cubans in general...
This post is irrelevant cause most people in the world dont know who, rigo is, abril, barthelemy, solis, lara or hernandez, everyone knows canelo, chavez jr, jmm marquez do i have to get into more specifics?Comment

Lol
Its also very important to take into consideration population
Mexico has 120.8 million people to Cuba's 11.27
So per capita Mexico should have 10.7 times more Hall of Famers' and current champions than what Cuba does...
Do they? I'm not sure... Also take into consideration Castro's ban on professional sports.
PR literally per population is the beast in terms of boxing... A tiny island of 3.6 million to Mexico's 120.8 million
So to be as good as PR mexico would have to have 33.5 times more Hall of Famers' and current champions that what PR does...
Boom! Simple as that
Texas should produce more champs than Rhode Island no???Comment
