  • Boxing needs to be under one promoter

First off, that's just the truth.. Don't like it? Too bad, deal with it...

What do the NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL.. Have in common? Easy, it's all under one league... What else, they're all on network television, not pushed off to premium cable channels, (I'll get to this part later)

The fact is, none of those league I just mentioned would be successful is there was another similar league also involved .you really think they don't know that? why do you think most of those leagues had some type of merge in the earlier days?.. Because they knew in order to be successful you had to have it under one umbrella, not two or three..

Let's get to the big one everyone will eventually bring up :ufc.... Say what you want about their pay (no idea why you care unless you're getting a cut) but Dana white was right when he said on first take "we don't have the same problems boxing has of not putting together the best fights, we don't have that problem where golden boy has this guy and Bob arum has the other guy and Don king has the other one... No what we did was go out and sign them all"

And that is why the ufc is eating up boxing, people know their champions, people know who they'll be facing next... People know....
. And people know that boxing can't get it right... Mayweather - pacquiao not happening did more damage to boxing than some even realized.. You don't think so because you're a boxing guy that shuts his ear off to the casual fan... But the casual fan? They're through with this sport.. No? Please go check ppv numbers (Mayweather- canelo an exception)

Boxing will never be on network television and remain a niche sport as long as it's under all these promoters because these promoters only look after themselves because again, they're all running their own leagues.. (why else Is bradley even mentioned to face cotto??) promoters will never put an opponent against a fighter of another promotion with the risk of losing everything just to please that "fans", because business, tthey're busines, will always come first.

the sport will never be legitimize until it's under one main promoter (ufc style).. And guess what, bob arum, richard Schaefer, AL haymon, they all know this..... oscar knows this and has stated it before.

Moral of the story, get used to it just being a niche sport on premium channels being shown on the smallest of small platforms , you want boxing on free television with the likes of the NBA and NFL, but say you don't want an ufc model??.. Sorry it doesn't work that way, so make up your mind on what you want cause if you're in favor of having 3 top promoters than quit complaining about boxing because this is what you get.

People here get pissed when I say it but if boxing were run like the UFC it would be MUCH better organized.

Boxing doesn't need a system like the UFC, even though I agree from a fans perspective it would be better.

Wouldn't be better from the fighters point of view, because they wouldn't make as much money.

What boxing needs is not a promotional monopoly, but someone in govt to step in and make sure to regulate the corruption in boxing.

Like a boxing Czar. An outside force to regulate these corrupt ass.holes.

The government has better things to do than make sure two fighters get in the ring together, people need to realize that...

You call it a monopoly, is the NFL a monopoly? Or the NBA?.... This is sports, not Microsoft

Hell no! The cash cow would never lose a decision. It would be like the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals every fight.

This is what needs to happen:

              1. Ban multi-fight promotional contracts and options altogether
              2. Fighters have managers/advisers to handle their careers
              3. Sanctioning bodies (preferably 1) do the matchmaking
              4. Promoters bid on fights that sanctioning bodies make

If anything we need 1 sanctioning body, not one promoter.

What boxing needs is the bitchass associations to tell Oscar, Arum, Haymon, and whoever the fuck else there is to STFU and force their fighters to fight mandatories and opponents who deserve the fight

In the UFC, the referee and judges are all chosen by the commission, not the UFC, and Dana White whines and b*tches everytime the wrong decision is given, whether its for or against his cash cow. The same could easily be the case in boxing.

The OP is correct. It's clear that one company will clear up the vast majority of problems in the sport. Haymon has a chance at doing this it seems. Let's see if he's the guy for the job.

Boxing needs to be structured like tennis. Tournaments and eliminations until the 2 best fighters who made it to the top are left and have one big championship. Never mind this shiet where fighters get to choose who they want to fight or waiting till you have 25 pro fights before you decide to fight someone with a pulse. Its actually quite pathetic the way the sport of boxing is structured and that's why it will never be mainstream again unless some serious restructuring is done.
