How can you blame it on the promoter its not him in the ring controlling him, Rigo fights like how he does and it just turns out that the majority of boxing fans who go to see fights wouldn't want to pay for that.

Rigo in the past generation would of got booed out of the ring If he adopted that fight style, its just not what fans want.
Arum certainly didn't do him any favors though. Sure, Rigo could be more aggressive and try to be more exciting. That would definitely help as well. But I just don't understand why he would downplay his best fighter after his biggest win.

You've got a point there on him having a go at him after taking apart Donaire, perhaps its bias of seeing a fighter who was making Arum a lot of cash dethroned so easily.

Businesses are a cut-throat and If the interest isn't there well...
It becomes very hard for a promoter, time will tell with this fight in China in coming weeks.

What Arum did right off the bat was paint the picture of Rigo as boring. So boring in fact that he can't sell him. Now everyone from the get go is swayed. They see his next fight. he dominates, the opponent shells up and decides all he wants to do is survive. Now people with that picture from Arum in their head see this and they all go nuts. People are sheepy as **** and as a promoter you paint the picture of a guy so boring you can't promote him then the sheeple will run with it.

It's too bad too. I'd much rather watch him over guys like Ward or Alexander.
No, he is that boring watch Arum wasn't lying. So Arum is saying he is a superb fighter but he is boring to watch... where exactly is Arum wrong here? The guy is INCREDIBLY boring as **** to watch, every fight he is in is boring. I never understood that about boxing... for some reason you have to watch just because the guy is JUST THAT GOOD. Hey, that's great but the Spurs are REALLY ****ing good too but they play boring ass basketball, I'd much rather watch the Heat or Clippers play. Should I watch Spurs games just because they are the best? Of course not, but in boxing how dare I not watch it... ass backwards thinking. Rigondeaux was on HBO, Showtime and PPV about 5 or 6 times and he didn't get a crowd. No casuals go around reading Arum quotes, Rigo is boring as **** to watch and people don't like it, period.

Manny had just gotten KO'd by Marquez. Floyd was just out of jail. Ward wasn't fighting. Rigo could've easily been sold as the game's best fighter. Instead, Arum made a million excuses for Donaire and downplayed Rigo's victory. Sell the great talent. Fans will believe what they are told.
Did you see that Donaire post-fight video, where Rigo and Arum are sitting together? Guille laughingly ribbed Bob by saying, "I told you so!" Arum looked bored out of his wits, and complained that Rigo should be knocking people out.

Your fighter just schooled a consensus top-five P4P fighter (who just happens to belong to you as well), and you have nothing but criticism for him? What is your line of work again, Bob?

I see these types of posts. You guys all sound the same. I dont give two ****s about Rigo, but you guys ll sound the same. You fell right into what Arum was saying.

How is Rigo any more boring then some of the other top names I mentioned?

Arum as a promoter had the responsibility to play up his high points. Not destroy him by calling him boring. That's his ****ing promoter! Why are you idiots defending that?

Exactly. It's so baffling to me. And Bob is a very intelligent man. He knows better.

How can I defend something that wasn't wrong in the first place. Is Rigo boring? Check. Did Arum say just that? Check.

You can argue that Arum shouldn't have said it but who was the last casual boxing to look up Arum quotes regarding Rigo? If you know of anyone please tell me, then I'll believe Arum "ruined" his career. HBO has 30 million subscribers... I would say at best 600k are hardcore boxing fans, will watch anything. You don't need to sell boxing to those people they will watch no matter what, its the other people you need to convince.

So, when the guy has HBO dates and the ratings go down each time he is on, that isn't Arum's fault. GGG has been on just as much as Rigo, maybe SLIGHTLY more and he is the biggest draw on regular HBO. It's because he is a highly skilled fighter AND is entertaining so everyone watches, fighting like Rigo is the cure for insomnia and people change the channel.

Bob Arum lies for a living, every promoter does. Now it's okay for him to be honest? A promoter's job is self-explanatory. Fans don't have to know what Arum said. His attitude is not conducive to doing his job. That much is clear, because he failed his client miserably.

Rigo's been in boring fights, but I don't consider him boring. I understand he has that rep, but not everyone agrees.

I can tell you I thought the Donaire fight was excellent. I'd rate it an 8/10. For at least the first four rounds, Rigo exchanged whenever Nonito wanted to. After Guille took a clear lead, he started to box more, but it wasn't like Donaire was in any hurry to engage at that point. Nonito got the short end of every trade. By the end of the fight Donaire was literally running for his life.
