How can I defend something that wasn't wrong in the first place. Is Rigo boring? Check. Did Arum say just that? Check.

You can argue that Arum should have said it but who was the last casual boxing to look up Arum quotes regarding Rigo? If you know of anyone please tell me, then I'll believe Arum "ruined" his career. HBO has 30 million subscribers... I would say at best 600k are hardcore boxing fans, will watch anything. You don't need to sell boxing to those people they will watch no matter what, its the other people you need to convince.

So, when the guy has HBO dates and the ratings go down each time he is on, that isn't Arum's fault. GGG has been on just as much as Rigo, maybe SLIGHTLY more and he is the biggest draw on regular HBO. It's because he is a highly skilled fighter AND is entertaining so everyone watches, fighting like Rigo is the cure for insomnia and people change the channel.

Even in his worst night entertaining wise because boxing wise he is beyond reproach what Arum should have been saying was praises, and that he hopes the next oponnent wont be such a mismatch. Because there isn't much you can do with a guy just shelled up trying to make it's frustrating for everyone just ask Pacquiao .

He used to smoke and drink and fight drunk in the ams because he still won anyway XD, but he is done with that **** now because he has a reason to he can actually improve his life and his families with his skills it's worth it making the sacrifices.

Rigo was smoking cigars since he was a young kid, I doubt he has quit for good, thats like taking milk from a baby. Maybe he just stops for fights, but its kinda hard to tell a guy who been lighting up cigars since 5 years old to stop now.

Its like with Mayorga he said he was smoking since he was a baby, he tried to quit but couldn't.

Also I think the reason why Rigo is so small is because he drank a lot of Cafe as a kid, that caffeine combined with cigars can stunt your growth.

Some of it is Arum's fault though. Sometimes it seems like Rigo is set up to fail. For instance, Rigo fought on HBO on 12/7 on an absolutely horrible card in Atlantic City (Kirkland/Tapia turned out to be a very good fight). Meanwhile, there is a stacked card the same day on Showtime. The cards were also close in proximity which definitely effected the ticket sales.

Arum as a promoter had the responsibility to play up his high points. Not destroy him by calling him boring. That's his ****ing promoter! Why are you idiots defending that?

Any promoter that has that attitude about his fighter can't possibly do his job effectively. Yes, Rigo could improve on his part; but Arum failed him. Bad situation.

The Pac/Clottey reference is a horrible analogy... Manny comes to fight. Someone also mentioned the Donaire fight, which the guy said was entertaining to him... for four rounds. The point is Donaire and Manny both come to fight, but we aren't talking about them it's the other guy. Manny can have a boring fight every now and then, but not every fight. Manny has been in how many fight of the years? And Donaire has at least 1 or 2 KO's of the year they are very entertaining guys to watch. Every Rigo fight is just tough to watch and I watched the entire Donaire and Agbeko fights to the end.

I'm a massive boxing fan, I re-watch fights, anyone coming on this site I'm sure does the same thing. But I've never re-watched a Rigo fight, and I don't ever find myself looking forward to when he fights (except when he fought Donaire.) Maybe it's simply because he hasn't been challenged but then his refusal to move up in weight doesn't exactly help his cause either.

Arum straight up ruined any chance Rigo had at becoming anything. No his style isn't the most intriguing, but it's certainly no where near the worst or as bad as some say.

What Arum did right off the bat was paint the picture of Rigo as boring. So boring in fact that he can't sell him. Now everyone from the get go is swayed. They see his next fight. he dominates, the opponent shells up and decides all he wants to do is survive. Now people with that picture from Arum in their head see this and they all go nuts. People are sheepy as **** and as a promoter you paint the picture of a guy so boring you can't promote him then the sheeple will run with it.

It's too bad too. I'd much rather watch him over guys like Ward or Alexander.
