It was a tough 2013 for Bam Bam Brandon Rios as he suffered back to back losses for the first time in his career and lost his world title to boot. Rios is looking to bounce back in 2014 but he has a tough assignment in front of him as he will be facing hard hitting Diego Chaves on August 2nd at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.

Chaves is considered a dangerous fight for Rios and even more when you factor in Brandon will have been inactive for 8 months when he steps in the ring. When BoxingScene spoke to Rios at his training camp in Oxnard, CA, he was asked if this was the type of fight he wanted as his comeback fight.

I don't like the quotes from this interview at all. We didn't want this guy but we were basically forced to fight him. We were looking at different opponents but HBO wouldn't approve them. And the worst of all from Rios, "I'm going to do what I do best and fight how I always fight".

It was HBO who said no. It's the network who says this opponent or nothing. They did it not too long ago I forgot with who... I think it was Dulorme? They didnt want Abregu but HBO said its Abregu or nothing.

Showtime could've easily said no to Salka but Espinoza The Puppet couldnt reject it.

I think Chavez is a good fighter. He didnt have the ring IQ nor the foot speed to keep up with Thurman that night. I like this fight alot. No movement. Seek and destroy type of fight
