    Quartey afraid of Ouma?

Quartey was scheduled to meet Vernon Forrest on an April 15th HBO date, but Forrest pulled out with an injury. Ouma, the former IBF junior-middleweight champion, quickly volunteered to sub for Forrest when the opportunity came up at Saturday’s Shane Mosely-Fernando Vargas fight. [details]

What exactly has Ouma done to deserve a fight with Quartey?

He's only been one of the top guys at the light middleweight division and one of his only losses recently came from a fight where he was obviously out of the fight being sick. Ouma's made no excuses for the fight. Since that time, he's had two TKO stoppages in the 4th and 8th rounds vs. a then 25-7-1 Alfredo Cuevas and a 50-9 Francisco Antonio Mora. He deserves a rematch with Karmazin and would beat him or Ike if they were to fight. Quartey understands this, and, for good reason, favors Karmazin or anyone else besides "The Dream". Believe me, a few more fights and they'll have no choice but to fight him.

        Good points.

I realize everything you typed...and had knowledge of this prior to making that statement.

Quartey is a big name fighter. He's been in there with some big names....and I really don't think Ouma is on his level....

Especially when it comes to namesake.

Quartay has been in with some good names... before that huge layoff. I don't think he's looks especially impressive since then, and Ouma has been ranked near the top of 154 for some time now.

I think this one ends in a one sided decision win for Ouma.

I don't know. Quartey spends all this time preparing for a fighter like Forrest & then fight a very dangerous fighter in Ouma who he hasn't really trained for. Could be an upset win for Ouma so he will probably take on a safe name.

The question could be what has Quartey done lately to deserve a fight with Ouma?

Quartey beat Phillips and Borjorquez. Two fighters Ouma beat already.

Weren't you saying that Quartey wouldn't duck Ouma? It looks like they don't want any piece of him to me. What Ouma's manager is saying would be good. Karmazin fighting his manditory and Ouma/Quartey fighting to face Karmazin and I'm with Ouma on the whole Don King situation. **** Don King and his options.

I'm a big Quartey fan, but I don't like his chances against Ouma. Ike's trying to line up a couple big money fights before he retires, and fighting The Dream, would probably deny him that. Quartey, IMO, would've beaten Ouma in his prime, but he's past his prime. He can still beat him, but he'd have to fight a great fight. I hope that Ike doesn't duck him, because he's always been a take-all-comers type of guy, but it may be in his best interest to avoid Ouma. I hope this fight works out, even though it could shatter any hopes of Quartey getting any more big fights.
