News broke a few weeks ago that Garcia and his fighters would no longer be using the services of Ariza who had previously worked with Marcos Maidana, Mikey Garcia and Brandon Rios. The pairing initially looked to be a good one but things have changed recently and Garcia and his fighters have decided to take things back to how they used to be.

May be they found someone who can provide the same type of hmmm juice
without the baggage.
Or maybe they found Ariza will be a liability later so they are distancing themselves from Ariza.

One thing I noticed about Ariza, is he likes to give instructions in the corner. I have never heard of a strength and conditioning coach doing that. He's not a boxing coach, and doesn't know as much as Robert does so why does he speak in the corner?
He did the same with Freddie Roach and that would get on my nerves. When I am the second in the corner, I don't speak, I let the main trainer speak to the fighter. The more you talk to your fighter, the more you mix things up and confuse him. You need to be concise and to the point. I'm not saying that played a part, I just noticed that about Ariza.
There is this one dude in my gym who doesn't know boxing from a rock on the ground, I shake my head and wonder why on earth he has a job every time I see him, it kills me inside that there are people depending on this guy to learn and he is just the worst. Never brought it up to anyone but I would bet money that I have more knowledge, better pad work, direction, and would destroy him in a sparring session which I find sad because I have less AM fights than fingers on both hands so he shouldn't be teaching even a stuffed animal how to box.
Anyway you tell em Garcia! His camp had success before Arizashakes, if he isn't disclosing the whole story he doesn't need to, it's not our business, and Ariza seems to keep getting shown the door forsome reason even though he is the best in the business, it could have alot to do with what Cuauhtemoc here is saying, I will pay close attention next fight rerun I watch with Ariza in the corner.
I expect Maidana to be ready come September, the world will be watching!Last edited by LoadedWraps; 07-07-2014, 09:20 PM.

Basically he's an overhead that no-one needs.
With a big mouth and inflated sense of his own importance.

I've always felt that strength & conditioning coaches are overrated in this sport. Fighters from the past use to go 15 hard rounds without them and only stuck mainly to their boxing and some roadwork and skipping. Now you have guys with these s&c coaches, nutritionists and possibly PED suppliers and they're still gassing by the 7th or 8th round. Don't get me wrong, cross training is great and has its place as long as your main focus is still boxing but all that other stuff won't make you a better boxer IMO.Last edited by _original_; 07-07-2014, 11:58 PM.

I tend to agree with you. Why was Pac cramping every fight, why are guys gassing after minimal output? It makes no sense if these guys are really improving the fighters.
Maidanas conditioning vs Mayweather was the same as it's been in almost everyone of his fights.
