If governing bodies don't start standing up to managers and promoters, then the August 9th card will be the first of many Crap cards. These boxers know they can get away with this Crap so that is why they do it. Its a waste of a tv date, waste of money, and if Oscar really approved this fight, then Golden Boy is in trouble.....Al Haymon is the Scott Boras of boxing and even though he is good for his fighters he's bad for the sport.Showtime is to blame, Golden Boy is to blame, and if we support this nonsense then we deserve more Crap like we are getting. Sorry to rant but that's been on my mind for a while now. Do you guys think I'm overreacting?

As much as I make fun of team Danny for this disaster, I put more blame on Showtime than anybody.
They're the idiots airing this trash. If you're the TV network all you gotta do is say f**k no, we're not airing that joke of a card. Come back to us when you have something credible. -
What I Really can't believe is someone at Showtime didn't say "you gotta fight somebody on contender level. And Oscar is really gonna pay him to Spar? People claim Oscar knows what's he's doing but he has a contract with Danny. He approved this......Comment

Then Oscar says they couldn't get Peterson vs Garcia for this card, but their fighting on the same card???? IPeople always shat on Floyd for his fights but even he fights legitimate opponents, even if he doesn't fight the #1 guy every time.Comment

La Esquina Neutral on Facebook reported that the WBC will not recognize the Garcia/Salka fight as a defense for Danny. The WBC will not strip Danny but will demand he defends the belt in the allotted time or he will be stripped.
I did a search and could not find another source, so who knows.

Al parecer la pelea venidera de Danny García ha levantado mas rechazo que apoyo, ahora WBC informa que no reconocerá la pelea con Salka como defensa, por lo tanto y en teoría solo estaría en juego el WBA (quienes aun no se pronuncian). WBC no desconocerá a García pero si le exigirá defender en los plazos exigidos de otra manera lo despojaran (debe defender cuando su plazo llege sin importar si ha peleando antes o cercana a la fecha de rigor).Comment

No, I don't think you are over reacting. The WBC and the WBA should have insisted he defend against a fighter rated in their top 15 or be stripped. Instead they give their blessing for Garcia to defend his title against an unranked fighter. They are useless if they won't enforce their own rules. Only boxrec ranks fighters below 15th. They rank this guy #78 which means they think there were 77 other 140 pounders who deserve a title fight more.Comment
