Comments Thread For: Zabala Hints That Canelo-Lara Could Be Golden Ploy

Promoter Tutico Zabala of All Star Boxing says the team behind Saul "Canelo" Alvarez made a huge mistake in accepting a fight with WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara on July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Zabala has an ongoing lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions, claiming that Canelo had a valid promotional contract with his company when Golden Boy signed him. A trial date is set for October 13th in Miami.

My feelings exactly fam. A lot of people don't realize the "ducking" we speak of is a lot of the time initiated by guys like this higher up the food chain. Same with Danny Garcia, all the people eating off him are most likely the ones that won't let him rematch Herrera. A fighter more times than not has too big of an ego to not want to fight a guy, unless said fighter is of boogie man status (kovalev, GGG, Matthysse)

Oscar didn't want canelo to take the fight either. Said it was a dangerous fight!
Oscar goes on twitter going on about ending the Cold War and the best fighting the best then says straight to a camera that he didn't want canelo to take the fight with Lara!

Business wise it doesn't make sense. He is talking from the position of a promoter who has one non Haymon superstar and now if he loses badly and all the Haymon fighters leave then golden boy could be in real financial trouble
