Not versed well enough. There were actual negotiations with Barclays prior to his fight in May and numerous articles to document that. While Ellerbe said they received a good offer and were very close to accepting they decided on going with the MGM, who probably returned the favor by splashing venue during the Pacquiao-Bradley fight week with advertising for Mayweather-Maidana.

And Arum actually complained in another article we had months ago, claiming Mayweather used the threat of fighting at Barclays to apply pressure on the MGM to push his PPV during a Top Rank fight week.

NY allows hand injections? I thought it is only in Nevada where it is allowed...

That leaves the tax issue as to why Mayweather has stayed away from New York. It makes sense; everyone hates to pay taxes, especially the rich. The reason Arum was so pissed is justified. Mayweather leveraged the possibility of fighting in Barclays in order to get his fight against Maidana promoted over Arum's Pac-Bradley II. He probably never really intended to fight in Barclays at all, given the high taxes. Shame on MGM for taking the bait & crapping on Arum's promotional efforts.

Um..........win or lose, young or old, Maidana, whom Alexander boxed circles around (yes I know it was before Garcia trained him), just put plenty of leather on Floyd. I think he won the fight with the much cleaner and actually harder punches..........but if you ask me who I would rather have been waking up the next morning?? Maidana all the way........

GGG didn't run from Ward. He flatly admitted he's not ready. He hasn't been in tough enough at 160 let alone 168........154 vs Floyd...........Floyd may outbox him but takes serious punishment for his trouble and I don't think he'd get that decision if he were still conscious after 12......

IF.......Golovkin can even make 154.......but I think Floyd wants about as much to do with GGG as GGG does with Ward..........notta danm thing!!

I think the other poster.........Floyd vs Cotto for the MW title is much more likely.........the lineal belt, he beat him once fairly easily, Cotto hits nowhere near as hard as Golovkin.

One more thing about Golovkin, he's very accurate and has good, subtle defense. 2nd only to Floyd in +/- landed/opp landed...........no walk over.........and DONNY Lalonde was NO GOLOVKIN..........not by a long shot.....was forced down in weight where they basically created the SMW division to make the Leonard-Hearns fight happen for an actual title.........

Cotto-Golovkin? People will scream for it soon. For Cotto's sake I hope not. I think he should take the less punishing Floyd/Canelo money and walk..........when he walks, Canelo v Golovkin would be very likely to happen. And Golovkin would win easily. If Ward is able to get any sissies to fight him in the mean time, that's about when the Ward-Golovkin fight would make sense....

Ward-Golovkin now would be a terrible idea for both fighters money-wise. When Floyd does walk.........those two will soon be the biggest names in the sport........

It makes sense because New York is the capital of the US...it's all about money here...New Yorkers understand what I mean! A mayweather fight here in nyc would generate a huge amount of money no matter what holiday or Independence Day he fought on... Plus it would do the city a huge justice and bring some much needed income...

It doesn't make cents because the god damn tax situation...it's outta control and to be honest I wouldn't wanna fight away from my hometown where I get catered too and save a ***** load of money....that's the prob with NY...nobody wants to do Sh.it here cause the taxes...that's y people hardly even film in ny. I think a lot of people fail to realize that the Barclay's offer would have taken into consideration the tax element. So the offer would have offset any tax benefit that Vegas gave him. They stuck with the MGM out of loyalty and other business factors/benefits that Vegas provides.

Sounds like Floyd ' getting chased out of Vegas and desperately trying to set up a potential rematch will Cotto who is the only crowd drawing in NY. I think his guiding spirit is being blocked from seeing the risk.

Word is barclays ceo is working on a tax break with mayor deblasio so floyd can fight in nyc.
