I think he wanted to go to 175 for all the marbles, there are obviously better fights at that weight but it really looked like he wanted there to be a clear number one guy to take out when he made the jump. That was fairly close to fruition also but that whole thing went up in smoke, which is probably part of Ward's current beef his plan went up in smoke and now he is upset because his promoter has no real back-up plan, surrounding landscape be damned.
Why is Andre Ward not willing to go to 175?

He is a natural 168 pounder and has no trouble making weight and so far he has been unbeatable at that weight. If he fights the best challengers at 168 then what's the problem? Why should he handicap himself by fighting men who are naturally 7 pounds bigger than he is? Look what happened to Gamboa when he fought a good fighter in a weight class he didn't belong in. Hagler and Pryor stayed at the same weight their whole career and they were all time greats. Why should Ward have to do something they never did?
Ward isn't a warrior like Joe Calzaghe, who left his country and moved up to 175 and fought the Ring champion Bernard Hopkins.
Ward always demands everything his own way: weight, home advantage, no PED testing.Comment

He will go eventually, but too many possible big fights at 168 for him to leave now..
Let him take care of froch 2, ggg, chavez, etc before moving upComment

The 168 weight division didn't even exist for most of boxing history. There was just 160 and 175.

ggg isnt even a 168 pounder and will stay at 160 for atleast another year..ward has been chasing this guy since last year lol thats not the reason for him not moving up.
chavez is a possibility but that fight will most likely land for froch.
the real reason, as i stated a year or so ago is that ward has american diva feverComment
