Resume is definitely the most defining factor between very good and very great. You could have two guys, one is the more talented yet lacks the resume. The other, only half as talented, has beaten the much better fighters.

Sure you could look at that fighter and notice how great his footwork is, speed of hand, power etc... But every boxer relies on a good opponent to prove his worth thus why the Klitschko's aren't rated highly... at least not as highly as some people think they should, could, woulda, but, if... you get the point.

Hardwork beats talent, mental > physical.

TALENT! Talent is actually UNDERRATED and the people who lack talent hate the guys with talent but Talent to go with the Work Ethic and Heart=LEGENDARY ALL TIME GREAT (Robinson and Ali) It is hard to "OVERACHIEVE" your way into a ALL TIME GREAT. Majority of the guys considered All Time Great had Talent or something that separated them from the rest during their ERA.

natural talent - 90% of professional boxers have a natural talent to box.

heart - anyone that stands in the ring with the willingness and understanding that they will get punched in the face repeatedly has heart.

boxing IQ - This separates the greats from the rest. With great boxing IQ the fight is won before the fighters even enter the ring.

work ethic - Having a great work ethic is a good but if you don't have natural talent, heart, and great boxing IQ you're just a hard working loser.

              what separates them??

              Competition you faced.

Exactly why in the past generations we had great fighters, now we simply have great business men.

                      natural talent (speed/power/quickness) + hard work + intangibles + heart + smarts + balls + resume = ATG.

Subtract one from the list and you drop to the next lowest tier, e.g., HOF, subtract another and you drop another level, so on and so forth.
