If Maidana gave up his gloves for free (which would be hilarious) the rematch would be more risible...

Why does whether or not he got paid to not wear the gloves matter at all in the rematch? I'm sure this explanation will be interesting... The guy got caught trying to cheat with gloves that had the padding on the knuckle removed. He should be happy that he didn't get fined. He definitely didn't deserve to get paid. Combine the fact that he tried to pull a fast one with gloves, the amount of rabbit punches he threw in the first round and the fact that Robert Garcia was instructing him to fight dirty through out the fight he and his team shouldn't be allowed to make any demands about anything in the rematch

If I was Maidana, I wouldn't take too long to sign that contract. Thurman is still available, and Cotto's team said the door is open for Floyd. I know Floyd doesn't want to change dates, but if he did, he could make more money with Khan or Cotto. At the same time, if Floyd gives Maidana his choice of gloves, it will add more drama to the promotion. More people will feel that the gloves will give Maidana super powers, and a better chance to win, which equals more PPVs.

If it's true that "Mayweather agreed to pay Maidana an additional $1.5 million to change gloves" (as alleged above) I'll lose all my interest in Mayweather's future fights... Even if Mayweather agrees with the gloves, nobody can guarantee that he's not coming with other exotic last minute demands -- such as forcing Maidana to wear sandals for a $2 million payment...

if someone tried to use gloves without padding once wouldn't feel skeptical about all of their gloves? Maidana's team that created this issue in the first place. People are so quick to hate on Mayweather that that fact is dismissed. Maidana tries to act like that didn't happen either. They got caught cheating, period!! If he has KO power, he has KO power in any gloves.

Team Maidana already earned some good money in the first fight, they really should say "our gloves or no fight", just gamble man cause if Team May doesnt agree who they gonna fight? It isnt a coincedence that they picked the rematch and i dont think that Floyd can pull a Rod Balsam at this stage in his career.

They can wait a month and go with Khan. While Maidana, misses out on the biggest pay day of his career and a chance to beat the #1 P4P, sitting on the shelf waiting for a big fight. All because of gloves. he will be wearing 8oz gloves regardless, but the brand and legal dubiousness of the gloves is what matters most huh?

Matter fact, Maidana gained damn near 20lbs before the fight, thats within the rules but still an added advantage, why are there no complaints.

I'm not interested in Maidana. I'm just interested in following the general rules of the sport. No rules -- no interest for me.

If the Champ having that much power bothers you, you should have started watching wrestling a long time ago. This has been going on for some time. Champs have dictated gloves, weights, ring size, etc. for quite a while.
