IMO it's kovalev's timing that's giving hopkins problems, and Kovalev isn't trying to land the perfect shot, he's taking whats available

kovalev is a very skilled fighter

That's the thing. It's not just the power. Hopkins could have taken pure power away; Kovalev is power and skill. That's why he's so dangerous.
