Bernard's time has come. He will experience his first stoppage loss.

War Kovalev, i like Hopkins obviously but for the good of the LHW division KOV needs to win and by KO. A passing of the torch kind of moment hopefully but to write of the old man would be silly after all the times i already have and been wrong. (Pavlik being the worst prediction)

This fight might look like Marciano-Charles 1 and Toney-Peter 1.

Kovalev is long, versatile, quick, uses feints and can touch a guy, body and head, easily. And he will begin touching Hopkins too, early in the fight. I really think Nard finally made a bad matchmaking error for himself - a rarity and is in for a world of hurt. Do NOT be surprised if Hopkins feigns a foul to exit this fight. He will be working the ref for as long as it lasts. This is a fight that Kovalev can win EITHER way - decision or KO. But in spite of Nards defensive prowess and ability to stink out a fight, I still lean towards the KO route for this loss. Kovalev is too fierce and with all the subtle things he does, he is uncannily heavy handed.
He's skilled, but nothing out of the ordinary, Hopkins has beaten more skilled opponents than Kovalev.

That really leaves power and youth/work-rate as Kovalev's keys to victory (on paper at least).

Who do you think Hopkins has beaten that was more skillful than Kovalev? I don't see it. Kovalev is nearly impossible to contain. Campillo, who can fight, folded. Sillakh, who is quite skilled, was abused. Cleverly, a robust young kid, was owned. And I think Cleverly and Sillakh could give Hopkins all kinds of problems. Kovalev's jab alone is a serious weapon to the body, head and thrown straight off the wrong foot. He won't be standing there like a nitwit like Shumenov did. He will be probing and firing. This will be Nard's Waterloo.

If there's any match-up this year that I hope to predict correctly, it's Kovalev/B-Hop. Kovalev needs to not only beat B-Hop, he needs to destroy completely. B-Hop will try his hardest to make this fight as ugly as possible, and I will be pissed if that's enough to take Kov off his game. This fight will show how strong Kov's mental is.

Less then 3 weeks until the people saying Hopkins wins say:

"Hopkins is old and should of never taken the fight in the first place. Kovalev is still an unproven hypejob""

This fight worries me, I hope Hopkins comes out well and healthy after the fight.
