He's neither slow, limited or a brawler. Still 0 / 3 ain't bad.
Since Tarver, which of Hopkins LHW victims would you pick to beat Kovalev?
Half of them were dragged up from MW and / or were at least halfway shot.
The others either weren't very good, or beat him. Certainly Kovalev is better by a margin than any of the guys Hopkins has beaten in years (how long partly depends on how you rate Pascal, which in my case ain't very highly).Comment

If Kovalev becomes gun shy and finds Hopkin's defense harder to penetrate than he thought, it will be boring. Kovalev HAS to punch in bunches, at least for the first half. He needs to punch in bunches to land "those" shots on Hopkins that make Hopkins weary and damages the old man a bit.
Soften up Hopkins the first half, go for the kill in the 8th and onward.Comment

right on brother. he cant let Hopkins lure him into a slow pace. he needs to keep those hands moving and push the pace. I just hope to hell he doesn't show hops too much respect and fall into his traps. hops is a master at making opponents fight his fightIf Kovalev becomes gun shy and finds Hopkin's defense harder to penetrate than he thought, it will be boring. The good thing is, Kovalev has stated he isn't looking for the KO, but I hope that doesn't mean he will fight too cautious. He doesn't need to punch with all his strength and load up, just punch in bunches (3-4 swift punching combinations) and throw Hopkins off balance to find an opening for the true power shots.Comment
