"Alien" Hopkins vs "Krusher" Kovalev Post fight Discussion thread

As we approach the Light heavyweight championship fight between "The Alien" and "The Krusher" I am once again reminded of how the boxing world didn't give bhop a chance against the younger Kelly Pavlik 6 years ago. This fight will actually be a repeat of that. There are levels in the sweet science and these two fighters are on two different levels. BHop will outclass and outwork and most importantly outthink Kovalev. While he is loading up chasing and looking for that one shot he will be getting completely outclassed by bernard.. Mark my words he will be the unified light heavyweight champ on Nov 8th in Atlantic City.. He will slip counter and make "the Krusher" look like an amatuer.#boxing #levels

The more I think about it, the more I think Kovalev has zero chance of knocking out Hopkins. The only 2 current LHWs I give even a small probability of doing so are Stevenson and maybe Beterbiev. Neither would put him to sleep, but at damn near 50 Bernard has lost a lot of his balance. So maybe a ref stoppage after a few knockdowns.

Hopkins has impeccable defense, solid chin and great recovery. He's not getting stopped by a slow, limited brawler who cuts easily like Kovalev.

Of course I've seen him fight. Which description do you have a problem with? The dude doesn't even have an uppercut FFS. Are you saying he isn't slow? Who is Kovalev's best win?

10 years ago Hopkins wouldn't even need to train for this guy.

Kovalev is nothing special...He reminds me of Matthyse 2.0 and we all know what happened when Lucas fought Danny Garcia...

That being said I think he beats 50 year old Hopkins, but gets KO'ed against Adonis....Kovalev is vulnerable to the straight left hand coming from a Southpaw stance and that is Stevensons money punch....Steveonson would stop him...

Someone else will KO Stevenson before that fight ever gets made. Fonfara almost had him out. He's an old 38 in boxing terms.
