Why not give Mayweather that same credit for bringing up a much better fighter in Juan Manuel Marquez up 10 pounds? Because you're focusing on the predictions before the fight rather than the reality of who these fighters are. Marquez was expected to be dominated, so you don't seem to think it matters that he's a much better fighter than Pavlik could ever dream of being.

That's the problem with Hopkins resume in general when compared to Mayweather or Roy Jones or Manny Pacquiao, who people always argue he's greater than. Once you look past the expectations going in and the age, the fighters he has beaten don't compare.
    Bojangles dropping some real talk.

Kovalev's trainer who trained Hopkins said :

      - he doesn't think Hopkins is on PEDs
      - Hopkins asked him if he should retire after Roy jones rematch and he said yes and becAuse they disagreed , they stopped working together
      - Hopkins trainer Richardson is good at motivating the fighter but not a good trainer
      - kovalev gameplan is to make Hopkins work every round - hit the chest and arms, don't aim for the head
      - if Hopkins manages to keep up with the pace kovalev sets and wins the fight, Hopkins should be inducted into the HOF the night of the fight

        Agreed.

It's going to take an absolute masterclass of a performance for 12 rounds for somebody to derail the Krusher freight train

            Fair enough comments really.

Hopkins, however, doesn't need Kovalev to be a 100% guarantee to be a first ballot hall of famer as soon as he retires.

There's a reason there is no footage of that fight.

The unknown Russian was getting robbed. Plus he wasn't training properly at that time, he had family issues back in Russia at the time.

He took care of business the second time around.
