The two scenarios I expect are either Kovalev showing Hopkins to be too old and finishing him in the middle rounds, or Hopkins pulling off a less dramatic, slightly dirtier version of the Rumble in the Jungle, where he uses his footwork and "veteran tricks" to weather Kovalev's storm, tire him, potentially stop him late though that's unlikely or win the decision.

I don't expect Kovalev to win late or win a decision, and I don't expect Hopkins to dominate all 12, 10 out of 12, or anything like that. It's either going to be Kovalev beating the old man down or Hopkins pulling off something amazing and dramatic.

I voted for Kovalev, but I won't pretend for a heartbeat that I have any confidence in that pick.

In this fight, and for the first time in a long while am I a tad bit nervous for the living legend that is Bernard Hopkins. Kovalev is such a heavy hitter and does this with straight powerful punchs. He rarely throws awkward punchs which could give Hopkins chances to time him in a less amount of time; if he can withstand the power of Kovalev.

Let's not forget the Pavlik, because many had Bernard as the underdog because of the power of Pavlik and age of Bernard but we all something amazing. Personally I have a small amount of fear that the Krueger will do just that, but I have not forgotten the unbelievable mutant for a human being that is Bernard Hopkins. I could see a drawn out, Hopkins like fight but I can also believe that we have a small chance to see another amazing Pavlik type beat down!

I will not hold anything from possibly most feared puncher in the light - heavyweight divison but too often have I seen "The Alien" defy the odds and show the greatness that is his legacy. If we were to see him lose, it could be the end of a legend but if he were to win... The Mutant/The Alien/The Executioner has done yet again defined the odds and put himself down as one of the greatest ever.

kovalev wins by TKO or DQ in mid to late rounds.
hopkins will perform an academy award winning performance.

i'm thinking about watching it with the sound turned down and the theme song of the three stooges playing on low.

Kovalev's movement will play right into Hopkins' hands. The old man cuts the distance and uses lateral movement and short chopping right hands to batter Kovalev repeatedly. Kovalev gets frustrated and fouls Hopkins and the ref DQ's him.

Does Kovalev even has a defense though? I know Bernard does. If he doesn't then he is in for a world of hurt from Hopkins because it's what separates the legends from the tomato cans. I can just see B-Hops outclassing the bum from start to finish if he can't cover up his chin. The more Hopkins can easily hit him the more his confidence is going to skyrocket as Kovalev's spirit becomes ever so likely more broken.

If Hopkins gasses like I think he might I can see Kovalev winning a decision or stopping Hopkins late

People say Cleverly would have won if he had boxed against Kovalev.

TBH, I don't think it would have made much of a difference, since Kovalev is so good at cutting off the ring.

What people don't realize is that Cleverly WAS boxing him in the early parts of Round 1, working behind the jab. It's just that Kovalev, for the most part, was winning then too. The punch stats in Round 1 showed that Kovalev was outlanding Cleverly.
