Not true. This is what confuses people, Kovalev was named Hopkins mandatory for a breif time while Murat resolved his visa issues, Hopkins accepted, Murat then got his visa issues cleared and was named mandatory once again, now Duva had the choice to continue to pursue a Hopkins fight OR fight Cleverly for HIS title, but they feared Hopkins would skip his mandatory, get stripped, and that HE would sign off to fight Cleverly for HIS title since Cleverly would ofcourse pick Hopkins over Kovalev, Duva was aware of this and quickly had Kovalev sign off for a fight with Cleverly fearing they would be left out to dry, and these guys cant understand any of this.. lol its funny.

Of course, Kovalev refused a fight Stevenson had to jump ship to pursue...

Daggum, you are a moron you have no idea what you are talking about and incapable of understanding how the business even works.. you have a great career ahead of.... nothing it seems. Duva wanted Kovalev to fight Cleverly because she feared Hopkins would skip his mandatory and vacate his title to fight Cleverly instead, so Duva had Kovalev fight him first to ensure he wasnt left without a fight, you cant even understand basic **** like that, and the poster above you sounds like more a clueless poster saying Murat magically became mandatory after kovalev. Just stop.

I remember reading Kovalev's interview where he said that Hopkins said he wanted the fight but there was no movement with negotiations, whereas Cleverly was ready to go. So Kovalev chose the sure thing, fearing Hopkins wouldn't happen.

I have read the thread except for the 2 links posted by King. Based on the BSence articles is where my opinion derives. They had the mandatory fight against Hopkins or the option to fight Cleverly. They chose Cleverly. I'm not saying its a duck (I don't believe in that) but I'm saying they had a choice and they chose Cleverly.
Even if Sho/GBP did not want the fight, Hopkins is not exclusive to them and we all know at his age he does not want to just give up a belt. They could have forced his hand n this one if they wanted to. Hll just look at the lengths Duva is going for the ish with the collapse of the Stevenspn fight.

People are more interested than the other fight. I'd go see this since this has to be on the east coast

Theres no point in being logical about the whole thing. They DONT get it, and understand how it all works and how the situation went down, and they dont want to hear otherwise, They want to believe Hopkins ducked Kovalev and nothing else matters, dont bother with them.
