I wonder why no talk is being made about Cotto-Lara?? Honestly I think that's close close fight, more so than Lara-Alvarez at this point but I'd even tip Cotto to win vs Lara (foty candidate I'm sure) because on the 12th I can't help but go with Lara over Alvarez. TBH at this point I don't really see too many people beating Cotto at JMW (this includes floyd) if anybody at all. Cotto belongs at junior middle and it seems like ppl will avoid him now.

Cotto is NOT tied to HBO or TopRank, so please stop misleading the discussion or less knowledgeable fans.

In a related sense, do you remember when, (after Cotto became free from TopRank,) and the idea of Mayweather-Cotto came up, and Bob Arum then said they (Team Mayweather) can never get him (Cotto?)

        'Nuff said.

I'm not convinced he isn't but point taken.

I do recall that and perhaps that's the May surprise?

It's a smart plan, but you can't say Canelo is ducking Cotto if Canelo decides to fight Mayweather next May instead of Cotto. Canelo (GBP) offered Cotto $10 million, but Cotto turned it down to fight Sergio. What comes around...
i think it has more to do with pac fighting on november, canelo booked the MGM for november since the beginning of the year, and even if they move canelo-cotto to december it will be to close to pacs date... thats why the only one interested in sending that fight to 2015 is arum... hopefully the fight gets made before the end of the year and the winner takes on floyd next year, and it will be even better if the MW title is not on the line for this fights, but thats too much to ask...

I hope Lara gets a good fight if he beats Canelo. Floyd most likely won't take him on at jr mw. Cotto doesn't seem to be interested. This is probably Lara's super bowl. Kinda sad when u think about it.

You're probably right, but it's a risky move. Cotto's PPV did not do well, and a tune-up fight would be worse. I'm not worried about Canelo because he's young and has plenty of fights left. Cotto, not so much. I don't think any fight could be bigger than Canelo-Cotto for 2014. Cotto should get that money NOW!

of course cotto wants to fight these guys rather then GGG. any young strong middleweight kills cotto. Especially after a blown up featherweight Manny pac man bludgeoned and turned cotto into a gargoyle while pac man was laughing at cottos punches

The interesting part about Cotto-Canelo is that, this could end up being a 2 fight series, in fact maybe that's guaranteed as it's very likely that it's gonna be that competitive. Just looking at it from that perspective tells you how much money this fight can produce.
