Comments Thread For: Michael Farenas Looking Good in Camp as Bout Looms

Hard-hitting southpaw Michael Farenas, the 30 year old protégé of former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa is looking good and according to Penalosa “is ready to rumble” when he battles undefeated American Mark “Too Sharp” Davis in an IBF eliminator for the No. 2 junior lightweight spot at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut on July 2.

Penalosa told the Manila Standard that Farenas was just two pounds over the limit for the official weigh-in which will take place at 3:00 p.m. today and doesn’t see any problem with making the weight.

Good write up, let others do the adulating. Farenas has a good chance here, Davis looks new, untested. Farenas is a hard test. I can't say how he will look at 130, but he did his part putting wear and tear on Gamboa.

Haha wear and tear on gamboa what fight were you watching? Farenas lost every round and that knock down he scored on Gamboa was a lucky punch it didn't even face gamboa.

Gamboa got dropped like a sac of potatoes and has not been the same since, hence the long lay off

Idk anything about Davis other than he was an amateur stand out but his team must have some confidence in him taking this fight or maybe they underestimate how good Farenas is which a lot seem to. He has a lot of experience and a good skillset to accompany that power.
He is no stepping stone or easy route to a title.

He popped Gamboa good, several times. Gamboa won, no doubt, but it wasn't easy. Why put Farenas down? Don't say Gamboa is good at beating bums. That is not a compliment.
