By that you mean good, world class fighters, yet not elites. Such as Ali being the only one to stop Oscar Bonavena.

Bonavena lost to every other fighter that was a step up in class. (Frazier, Lyle, Patterson)

Wlad's three truly stand out victories are Haye, Povetkin and Peters....maybe TT.
To be fair, he was roided to the gills. Mind you, from what I read Wlad wants no part of the drug testing Pulev requested.

Thompson has never beaten anyone worth a damn. Most the fighters Wlad's defended against have never beaten anyone worth a damn.

Haye and Byrd are both good wins. Peter and Povetkin are alright, so is Chagaev. Otherwise you have nothing but names that never did a damn thing. Wlad's greatness is because of dominance and longevity, the names are average to plain bad. It's not his fault, but he doesn't get imaginary points for it either.

Wlad is a great fighter, but his resume isn't anything to brag. Those are also belt holders, not real champions. Tyson dropped multiple belt holders but i wouldn't call Trevor Berbick the heavyweight champion of the world. Michael Spinks yes, Bonecrusher Smith...ehh...

No. The last 10 years have been very poor in the heavyweight division. One of the poorest ever. For god's sake Tyson Fury is a TOP 10 heavyweight - that should tell you all you need to know.

Is it WK's fault? No. But there it is. Arreola might have become a good contender if he came in shape - but he was always 20+ pounds over weight.

Chris Byrd was a decent win, as was Ray Mercer (who was old) and Samuel Peter.

Does VK deserve props? Yes of course he does. But who has he fought? Where are the Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowes? Outside of the WK and VK and (maybe Haye) there hasn't been any top heavyweights in what 10 yrs? The Ray Mercers, Andrew Golatas and Frank Brunos, Tommy Morrisons, Michael Moorers, Michel Dokes, Pinklin Thomas who made a solid B list in the 1990s would each have been the best heavyweight not named Klitshcko over the last 10 years. AND if VK had gone through them then his resume would be so much better.

As it is he gets props for defeating all comers in a bad error. He gets props for being in shape and doing what he has to do.

Wlad has as good of a resume as one could have for the state the heavyweight division has been post Lennox vs Tyson. I just wish Tyson and him could have been matched up at some point in the early 2000's. Where I think Wlad could have boosted his legacy and popularity even more is the fact that he and Vitali never fought. If they hadn't promised their mother that they wouldn't fight each other then that fight would have really kicked the heavyweight division up a notch. Also even though I don't blame him for not wanting to do business with him I think he should have fought David Haye again. Whether you like Haye or not he was one of the most talented Heavyweights a few years back and really revitalized the division with his trash talk. Its perfectly reasonable for Wlad to not care to prove anything else to Haye given that he beat him handedly once but if he wants to be remembered as an atg he needs to change things up a little. His style doesn't appeal to mainstream boxing, he doesn't trash talk or entertain, he has knockout losses, many of his big name opponents were physically overmatched by his size....I think what he needs to do at this point is stay true to himself and his style, fight more often, and hope his team can create competitive entertaining matchups. Wlad is obviously an atg but if he wants to become a Larry Holmes then he needs to create some sort of excitement.

Vladimir has a great resume. He's not finished yet, as well. We are witnessing boxing history in the making and a true All Time Great with one of the most impressive and dominating runs as heavyweight champion in the history of the sport.

Vladimir is already among the 5 greatest heavyweights of all time.

How many ATG's has he fought? None.

The likes of Leapai, Pianeta and Mormeck make up the bulk of his title defences. The fact that he doesn't like to fight lowers his appeal a notch.

He just stays on the outside using his jab and the odd right hand. If his opponent tries to go inside Wladimir just grabs and leans on him. If his opponent lands a good shot he holds straight away.

No, they don't. Leapai, Pianeta and Mormeck are the least accomplished opponents of his reign. But guess what? When he fought Pianeta and Mormeck, he did it to stay active when nobody else wanted to fight him. That's why he should be applauded like the real champion he is, unlike say, someone like mayweather.
