Originally posted by GoldenboyprmTell that to Vernon Forrest. IMO he was one of the best boxer/punchers at Welterweight in the last couple years as I've seen.Comment

Originally posted by DiegoFuegoForrest had too much fear in his heart. Mayorga had that fight (the rematch) won before he stepped through the ropes. By letting Forrest hit him flush in the 4th round, the decision was sealed. I saw that and said Forrest is a beaten man right about now. Sure enough, Mayorga throws a flurry of punches 3 seconds later and Forrest falls over out of fear. I think Forrest hit the canvas 5+ times that night he was so scared. He never had a chance from the 4th round on.Comment

Exactly. Everytime Mayorga hit glove, Forrest bounced around like he got hit flush in the mouth. Forrest lost that fight partially because his stance is so awkward. That ain't gonna happen with De La Hoya, whose stance is levels above Trinidad's. De La Hoya isn't gonna bounce around; he isn't even gonna be hit much. He'll pepper Mayorga for a wide decision victory.Comment

Originally posted by GoldenboyprmLike I said, haven't seen the footage. But I agree, doesn't sound like Oscar.
But do you see where I'm coming from about Mayorga's comments? He says and does **** so that come fight time, the other fighter will want to trade with Mayo instead of box. If you box with Ricardo, the fight is very winnable. If you slug, it's not in your favor.
Good for you.Comment

While I'm looking forward to this fight, I just don't see how Oscar can improve upon what Trinidad did to Mayorga. Mayorga got the beating of a lifetime by Trinidad, & the idea of Oscar just outboxing him kind of pales in comparison.
It's Mayorga's unpredictability that makes this fight intriguing.Comment

De La Hoya also threw everything but the kitchen sink at Castielljo and didn't drop him until the final stanza. I dont think he can stop Mayorga, especially a hungry one.Comment
