If you're under 30 and only fighting twice a year, that **** is wack son
Fighters only fighting twice a year

they'd prefer to fight twice a year over four times a year to extend their careers. you can freaking die in a boxing match. only the fighters truly understand the damage they take.
guys who fight several times a year usually aren't the highest earners.Comment

But stay busy fights are important too. I can see 2 major fights a year and then 2+ stay busy fights. Experience is important. Clearing out lower level contenders is important. AND for the fight game in general it gives those "lower-level bums" experience they never would have received and it ups their game.
PLUS its good for the fan base.Comment

Everyone making videos and Articles how they're 100 percent beyond Haymon, they love him and stuff.
Thurman has given his unequivocal love to Haymon yetComment

networks really shouldn't be putting "stay busy" fights on the air. you see how mcuh people are complaining about lightning rod stalka. it's $15-20 a month each for HBO and showtime.
what's important in boxing is money. everything else is a means to an end.
given the premium cable climate, and ppv, top fighters are making the most money fighting twice a year.
lesser guys fight several times a year for less money, but do they want to? of course not.
edit:
25,000 posts.
that's a thousand posts 25 times, or 25 posts a thousand times.

I agree all those young guys like , Keith Thurman, Glen Tapia, Gilberto Ramirez, Thomas Dulorme, Adrien Broner, James DeGale, Sergey Kovalev, etc, etc should be fighting 3X/4X a year
New Engkand is right stay busy fight should be on Fox sports, ESPN and S pike TVComment

I understand what you're saying that it's a business and money comes first. Yes that's all true.
I'm not saying that fighting more often will bring more money to the fighers. It really won't as none of these stay busy fights will be on PPV (except perhaps as undercards). But it will bring other good things (experience to both fighters, more exposure to the fans, etc...).
In all other sports better individuals (golf, tennis, etc...) and teams (baseball, football, etc...) face lesser competition during the course of a year. It helps everyone involved.
Now. Why would the fighter do so if not for the money? Why fight for 1 million or 10 million on one night and 250,000 on another? The culture of the sport has gotten away from fighting all comers once you've made it to the top (or when you've fooled yourself that you've made it to the top and want to keep up appearances).
I'm not saying that boxers should fight 12x a year (or even 6x) but I think it is better for their career and the sport if top boxers fight 4+ times a year. Even fighting "bums" is worthwhile.Comment

this depends what level of opposition you're fighting. for example the fraud D.Garcia probably takes more damage in sparring than he's going to against the street sweeper he's scheduled to fight.
you can get away with fighting twice a year if you're fighting top opposition.Comment
