floyd has been down. he took a knee when he broke his hand.

he was also down in the judah fight, but it wasn't called.

corley hurt him. mosley hurt him. maidana hurt him as well.

if he keeps fighting, he'll eventually end up knocked out, the way virtually all of the greats have ended up.

Tho I give him credit for some things. Not facing that kind of adversity is due to strategic opponent selection. Fighting once a year. Refusing to get into wear and tear wars, to preserve his body for late career fights. Now his career is coming to a close. He's more willing to give a more fan friendly performance. Instead of perseverance.

He's been hurt and stunned before and he showed a great chin vs Mosley when he almost got KTFO but its still not the same as getting put on your ass with a good shot. Take someone like a marquez who has a lot of experience dealing with being cut and knocked down, he actually fights better after getting bloodied and knocked down. They say experience is the best teacher.

We all saw how floyd reacted when he got cut, how will floyd handle being severely hurt and knocked down if he has never experienced it before? I think its a recipe for disaster especially for boxers who are past prime and getting up there in age like floyd. If their bodies never experienced it before during their prime and basically their entire career, and they get caught with a great shot late in their career, it would be very hard to recover from.

It would shock their system and the body would just shut down and take forever to recover. Kinda like what happened to roy. Id be very surprised if floyd took the rematch vs maidana. We could have a antonio tarver ko in the rematch type situation on our hands.
I totally disagree simply for the fact that like you said, he's been stunned before and stunned bad. Against, Chop & Mosley. How did he respond? He fought back like he had more heart than anyone in history. The so called runner started walking those guys down and going toe to toe, immediatly. That tells me all I need to know.

Also in other fights where he hasnt been stunned but hit hard like Cotto, etc... he also stands and trades. I just dont see him not reacting well. He may react very bad but it will be because he tries to fight when he should be holding or moving. No doubt he will be a warrior and try to fight if you ask me

I didn't realize he was down as an amateur.

I don't see how Floyd not getting knocked out is a BAD thing. The man is a great fighter but he can be hit. He doesn't get hit with many combinations. That's what makes him a great defensive fighter. If anything Floyd not being knocked out has helped boxing.

Manny getting knocked out has hurt not only his numbers but Floyd's as well. There aren't too many fighters out there for either fighter that will do their usual million PPV's. And it obviously took steam out of the possibility of a fight between the two of them shattering all the PPV records.

Funny how this is a defense of Floyd being knocked down, whereas when JMM uses that...its a tactic.
