hagler may very well have the most underrated boxing skills ever. people in the know recognize that he was a great, great boxer, but the layman associates him with coming forward.

hagler and early period hopkins really are a lot alike in terms of what they brought to the table. not always, but sometimes when i watch one, i'm reminded of the other.

hagler hit harder, faster / more fluid, had an arguably better chin, was left handed, so he had every advantage over hopkins other than natural size.

hagler is without a doubt on my short list of favorites. even though i'm a massachusetts son, ray leonard is actually a bit higher on my list of favorites.

This^. In this age, non-tested athletes performing at the top level at 40+ should be considered guilty until proven innocent. Taking and passing a test will change this instantly.

Anyway, Manny Pacquiao is my fav ever. Gifted with being in the absolute upper-echelon of physical athleticism (footspeed, handspeed, stamina, power) and with elite-level mental toughness, and in his later career developing elite-level skills, as well as being willing to fight the best. Plus, just being an all-around chill-out dude who does karaoke after his fights.

PAC, relentness with volume combo when engaged.. He can also be an accurate puncher when shooting single shots from the outside.

Best of all is his pleasing style of fighting.

That is very true. I think many associate him with the war with Hearns, crazy fight. Perhaps that is why he often gets overlooked as a boxer. But as you say he is a very underrated boxer. His jab was powerful, switched stances naturally, could fight inside just as well on the outside. A complete boxer.

This is hard but every time I hear favorite fighter ever the first one that comes to mind is Roberto Duran. So I guess he must be the one. Despite quitting the dude was a bad ass. Plain and simple.

However, Hagler could very well be the one too.

but many times he forgets to bring his chin inside the ring.

Besides being a bad ass, I think Hagler was the complete package. As you mentioned, skills, power, chin, good speed, southpaw and stamina was second to none.

My favorite fighter is Nigel Benn. The first fight I remember watching live was Benn against Eubank. He lost that fight too....but it's the fight that got me in to boxing and I've never gone back. There is nothing wrong with supporting your home fighter, especially when you're a kid. He did us proud and because of him I went on to learn and appreciate all the great fighters that all you guys have mentioned in this topic. It's a tough question to answer but ill go with Benn for making me a boxing fan for life. DARK DESTROYER!
