I don't think Lara is ready for this moment. There was an old Oscar De La Hoya interview where he said that many of the opponents he fought thought they were ready but when the moment came the magnitude of the moment ****** the air out of them. It has happened with Floyd opponents as well like Ortiz and Guerrero.
Canelo has been in the spotlight the past 4-5 years, Lara has never been in anything close to this type of fight.
I think Canelo comes out aggressive and gets the decision victory.Comment

No doubt, Lara looked quite sheepish up there. But Natas's comment below mirrors my exact thoughts:

In a press conference like that -- Canelo's press conference, to be exact -- it's tough to get the guts up to confront someone onstage, especially if it's not your idea to begin with. You need the courage of your convictions to work up the nerve. I'm impressed Landy did it at all. I'm even more impressed it got him the fight.Comment

That's true. And what made it worse was that when Canelo acknowledged him, Canelo was talking to Lara like Lara was his SON! Put his arms around him and ****, pointed to his manager, that's your manager there right?Comment

This is an excellent point, and one that's right in line with my "stage fright" observation. None of us can possibly conceive what it's like to walk into the ring for an event like that. It's difficult enough to do for a regular fight, but these big shows are another animal. As fans, we take it for granted; but the opponent in one of these fights is under tremendous pressure. Some guys rise to the occasion, some don't. Clottey versus Pac is an example, I think, of an opponent being overwhelmed by the moment. I hope Landy seizes his chance and blocks out the noise.
And anyone who's performed in front of large audiences, whether it be boxing, basketball, music, etc, knows that 'stage fright' is very real. You can get nervous easy. But yeah, Lara is going to face that pressure he hasn't felt before. Canelo though, this is just another walk in the park.Comment

This remind me of another Cuban fighting a popular and p4p boxer, he didn't look at his eyes and even the popular kid point him in that direction, he almost loss that same eye and was running for his life in the last round, for God sake I can't recall their names... Let see where the fright takes this Cuban Lara against this monster from mexico, the slayer of grandpas and midgets, or should I say little ppl? solis wasn't a midget.Comment

I sometimes get nervous as a fight is about to happen and I'm not the one going into the ring.

I have experience performing and talking in front of strangers and good-sized crowds. It can be tough on the nerves. I've sparred, but never fought. I always felt butterflies the day I was scheduled to enter the ring, but the nerves always subsided the moment blows were exchanged. None of this, of course, can compare to what Lara is in for the night of the Canelo fight. It has to be intense. There's just no telling how it'll affect a fighter.
I was watching the Garcia-Matthysse fight at a neighbor's house. He fought in the NYS Golden Gloves years ago. As Danny entered the ring, I said to him, "Imagine what it must be like walking into a championship fight on PPV like that." He just rolled his eyes, shook his head and blew out some air. lolComment

Those fighters you mentioned and alluded to were of significantly less quality than PBF and DLH. In the case of Clottey vs PAC fight, Clottey struggled because he usually struggles against guys with extreme activity (eg his fight against Margarito).Comment
