Schafers gone but everyone knows it was not just him, but Haymon and Espinoza as well.

All 3 guys are/were cancers to the sport and Showtime won't be released from shackles fully until Espinoza and/or Haymon are gone too.

So some of the Showtime money goes towards the fighters' purses. In other words, they do pay the fighters... indirectly?

Ok but Oscar was the man who was going to change it all, wasn't he?

gbp is weak right now after schaefer left the company with just a few contracted fighters. how could oscar stand up to haymon with a situation like that? he doesn't really have a lot of options right now.

and besides if he's not standing up to haymon, then he's just an accessory and al is the one doing the crime...but idiots like the ts would rather focus his criticisms on the accessory than to one who did the crime.

It proves Al Haymon blows and Showtime are idiots for approving this nonsense of a card. HBO would never approve such garbage....can't see how anyone in their right mind can defend Haymon lately. All his guys are fighting retreads on the same cards instead of fighting each other. When will it end...

I can't even be mad at Golden Boy. I always laugh at those who scream "X promoter is killing the sport!" A promoter's job is to make the most money as possible, and if they can get easy fights for their fighters for big $, then they should. The only entity that's to blame is Showtime. They networks buy the fights so the responsibility ultimately falls on them.

He was there all year and was putting together terrible cards. He was probably helping organize this one before leaving.

And it was GB's insistence on Canelo-Lopez being on the same night as Chavez Jr.-Martinez that directly led to the HBO ban on Golden Boy and the escalation of the Cold War.

In fairness, though, that was supposed to be Canelo-Paul Williams, then Canelo-Ortiz, then Lopez broke Ortiz's jaw, but at that point they should have moved the card.
